*this is a long question because all of the information needs to be given or it will not be a question anybody is capable of answering, sorry :( *

Hi, Before anybody reads this I am not asking for advice hoping that a veteranarian reads this or anything, just hopefully somebody knows what to do or what could be wrong with my dog. Please no nasty answers or anything, i love both of my dogs and we treat them amazing, but taking your dog to the vet everytime something is wrong is not the answer.

My dog is a 9 year old German Sheperd mix. She was always in very good health, no problems until last year. In June of 2009, she started acting wierd, and looked as if she was in pain, and was being distant. She would sometimes yelp when people would play with her, but for the most part was doing good. I had a big family reunion (people came in from out of state) but I had a gut feeling I should stay home with her. This is the night you couldn't touch her, she was distant, shaking, couldnt sit down, and in alot alot of pain. At 1am, she went downstairs, which she never does and I woke my parents up to take her to the vet because I knew this was serious. (I read alot and I know when dogs know they arent feeling good, or are about to die, they will sometimes run away or will hide) So we took her to the vet and it was horrible, they put her in more pain that she should have been in, she actually got away from them and was running around the hospital yelping in pain (trust me im about to cry thinking about it) My mom brought her home with pain pills, and muscle relaxers they had given us. We thought we were going to have to put her to sleep, and my dad said we had to have faith. The doctors told us they believed she had a tumor, and was constipated and the tumor was supposed to be very bad. (her back was in the air, i knew it wasnt a tumor.) My cousin's ex girlfriend has her own vet practice, looked at the x-rays, and said it was a twisted spinal cord and to keep giving the meds and dont give up on her. Sure enough, after about 2 weeks of medication, she was better. In January, I got a new puppy.. a min pin / chihuahua mix. Our german shep mix had no problems up until about a month, maybe a month & a half ago when her right ear started bothering her, which was obvious because she was tilting her head. We took her to the vet and they diagnosed her with an "inner-ear" infection. We gave her the meds and she was better. About a 2 weeks later it happened again, and we got her back on the meds. Just today she started again with the look of being scared, and in pain. (not like in June, but definitely scared or in pain) She has her head down, and looks like shes sad almost. I am not sure what to do at this point. My mom thinks it is because my puppy "attacks" my big dog and bites her ear, etc., The puppy is crazy, and i wouldn't doubt it, but at the same time I couldn't see her being the way she is, and no blood has ever been drawn from either dog, they are not very aggressive usually its the puppy annoying our sheperd mix. She doesn't yelp or anything when you touch her, but when the puppy goes near her, she gets scared or will yelp. Another thing is, she ran last night, she always comes back, but she does run out of the yard on her little adventures, and might just have pulled a muscle and be really sore. What do we do? Veteranarian visits are not cheap, in the least bit, and we have went 2 times in the past month. We are not keeping her alive for our happiness, but because she has had ups and downs but has always pulled back up. What could the problem be, and how long do we wait to call the vet for a 3rd time in a month? I honestly believe that within the next day or 2 she will pull out, but what are things we should be doing, things that might be wrong with her, and things we should look out for?

Like I asked before, please, please do not be rude. I can be very rude back to people but this isnt for me, its for my babygirl. If you do not have any advice, or anything nice or encouraging, do not answer. I have anger problems, and Im upset enough over my dog. Think if you were in the situation of a dog you grew up with before you answer :/ .

Thank you so much for the help too in advance!
