My baby is one week and three days old. Since last night, I noticed a little bit of blood (not dried) on top of the umbilical cord. It's not a continuous flow and isn't dripping or getting on her clothes.. It's just a little bit that's kind of sitting under the top part, like if I pick her up so I can see into it, there's a little blood. I think it may be due to her sitting in her carseat for several hours yesterday, but I'm not sure if it's infected. I just tried reading about it online and there is no swelling or redness around her bellybutton, and there is no odor or fluid coming out other than blood. Do you think this is okay? Also, when does this thing usually fall off? I don't remember when my first daughter's did. Thanks!
I'm sorry, I didn't mean the top of the cord itself. The blood is under the cord itself, but at the top of her belly button, if that makes sense. Should I still get it checked out? Like I said it's not a flow of blood at all.
Resolved Question: My baby's umbilical cord is bleeding a little bit.?
